Hi! I’m Ellen Van Tassel, M.A., CCC-SLP, and I’m the owner and speech-language pathologist at Renew Pediatric Therapy. I’m so glad you’re here!

I have over 15 years of experience working with children of all ages and abilities, supporting a wide variety of speech, language, developmental, and communication needs. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work in outpatient therapy clinics, provide in-home services, work in an autism treatment center, and spend the past 10 years in school-based settings, primarily with early childhood and elementary-aged children.

I’m passionate about providing individualized, research-based therapy that recognizes each child’s unique strengths, interests, and communication needs. I have also completed the Meaningful Speech course on Gestalt Language Processing (GLP), which has deepened my understanding of how some children develop language and how we can better support their communication journeys. I strive to use approaches that honor each child’s natural way of communicating while helping them develop meaningful, flexible language.
 

My approach to therapy is child-centered, family-focused, and grounded in the belief that communication skills should make a meaningful difference in everyday life. I want therapy to work for your family—not add unnecessary stress to an already busy schedule. Together, we’ll identify goals that matter to you and your child and develop practical strategies that can be used during everyday routines and activities.
 

Outside of the clinic, my husband and I live in Forest Lake with our three children. Our family stays busy with sports, activities, and all the adventures that come with raising kids! Being a parent myself helps me appreciate the many demands families juggle and the importance of finding strategies that are realistic, supportive, and useful in daily life.

Building trusting relationships with children and their families is one of the most important parts of my work. I want every child to feel understood, supported, and successful, and every family to feel heard, valued, and empowered throughout the therapy process.
